MOONWATER RETREATS 2017-03-16T18:21:46+00:00

WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS…

Moonwater Retreats

Such is the tranquility and sense of one with nature that Sri Lanka brings, the Moonwater Retreat effortlessly lends itself to the esoteric essentials of life.   Yoga, meditation, healing, music, nutrition and art therapy are just some of the holistic activities best suited to Moonwater that help you restore the balance and renew.

Our new Moonwater Yoga Shala has now been completed and nestles within the gardens next to a water feature containing lotus flowers and fish.  Our yoga shala was designed to accommodate yoga classes as well as encourage quiet, reflective times and it is here that reading, meditation and mindfulness is also best practiced.

For those of you who are interested in learning or practice daily meditation, we are delighted to offer authentic guided meditation by our local Buddhist monks, who will travel from the temple to conduct a meditation session, in the privacy and tranquility of Moonwater.

If you are interested in hosting a Yoga retreat or group activities at Moonwater, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.  We shall do our best to ensure that your travel arrangements, dietry requirements and any special requests are tended to in order to make your Moonwater retreat unique and memorable for all the right reasons.

MOONWATER

In House Dining

We are delighted to offer authentic Sri Lankan dining options in the comfort of Moonwater and outside in the grounds itself.  We intend to make full use of the new Moonwater Organic Kitchen Garden and supply our very own vegetables, herbs and spices, encouraging healthy, natural and nourishing dishes.

Sri Lankan food offers a vivid array of flavour combinations: sweet caramelised onion relishes, bitter melon, spicy scraped coconut, and the burn of curry tamed by mild rice, and palm sugar sweetened desserts. Samosas and dhal (lentil curry) look familiar, but upon closer inspection, these, too, have a definitively Sri Lankan spin: these thinner curries tend to be more heavily spiced than many Indian versions, and the cuisine is more inclusive of non-native ingredients, brought by international trade moving through the island. Foods that seemed to be known territory find exciting new applications in Sri Lanka, where noodles come in pancake form and pancakes serve as both bowl and base of the feast.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have.

“I just wanted to say what a fabulous time we had at Moonwater Retreat in Unawatuna.  It was our first time in Sri Lanka and we found the accommodation, staff, food and outdoor amenities to be everything you could ever want for, to enjoy an amazing holiday.  Mrs Chandrani – WOW!  She was incredible and the hospitality and service levels provided by all the staff were another level.”

YOUNG Y 2015

“We are a large family of 10 persons, including old man above 70 and child aged 6 and stayed at Moonwater for 5 nights.  Thanks to Mr Subodha and his team for making the whole experience so well, and it could not be a better choice to enjoy our vacation with stay in Moonwater”.
